Toyota FT-1 Supra Spoiler Mechanism

I just hope they stick with this spoiler and its mechanism. It would be sad to kill it before hitting production. From the looks It should serve a purpose just like some of the other branded super cars from the Mercedes SLR, Porsche 911 Turbo, Carerra GT. Just imagine the spoiler being deployed at set speeds to increase rear downforce for better traction and maybe even air braking when the spoiler deck angle is shifted upwards for drag.

My beef is that the spoiler is a bit on the narrow side. Take a look from the rear.

Agree?

Can't wait for them to release more info on it so we can see how much of a difference it actually makes and see it all put to work in a wind tunnel .

I wouldn't mind a fixed wing either. Similar design, but more akin to the MKIV's with how it mounts to the rear.

Although, I thing big wings are looked down upon in this day and age...

best of both worlds if you ask me, downforce when you need it, and sleek look when you don't!

The spoiler is designed impeccably. I love how it seamlessly integrates into the rear and then is deployed at set speeds. Its a small feature, but it makes a big impact. They would be fools to cast it aside for the production Supra.

I get what you are saying about the big fixed wing. Its a throw back to the glory days of the Supra and the GTR.

I think they will keep this. Its like everything, the more you start to see these popping up on other vehicles the more affordable the option then becomes.

Heck, the VW Corrado had something like this is the 90's! lol No reason why this cant.

WIN.

Even the McLaren P1 is like this and it's an amazing feature to have. But there's already a bit of an integrated rear spoiler that stays static which helps to make the rear end come together nicely

I could seea fixed wing being an option i mean it wouldn't be a bad idea to offer it as an option.

I know what you mean exactly about big wings being looked down on, but for the most part is that its functional thats all that matters to me. And if this Supra lives up to what its suppose to be it'll need all the downforce it can get to keep the rear down

Stole this from MK3Motley
