About that Sub GT86...

So Toyota has plans for a three sports car lineup, headlined by the Supra with GT86 sandwiched in the middle and a third lower cost option below. What do you think that sub GT86 vehicle could be?

Well perhaps, and this is a big perhaps its some kind of MR2 revival?

Quote:
in 2017 Toyota will introduce a new entry-level sportscar to slot below GT86 which will adopt a hybrid setup with a 1.5-liter engine gasoline engine and an electric motor. This model will reportedly cost just 16,000 USD and together with the resurrected Supra will pave the way for a new range of sportscars from Toyota...
Very little concrete information floating around, what do you think it could be?

I think a front engine two seater will be more likely. Maybe previewed by the 2011 Toyota TES Concept T-Sports concept?

I think you may be right as well. MR2 jst sounds so good especially because the 86 is back, the Supra is almost back and the third would of been the MR2

But I think a small roadster would be excellent for Toyota as well. I think every car company who wants to be taken seriously NEEDs to sell a small roadster

A new MR-2 would be nice. But a lot of people are saying pricing wise, the FR-S/86 is sitting in the 3rd gen MR-2 place already.

Newest reports are saying the sub 86 car will have a 1.5 liter and start at $16,000.

I think it would be a mistake to build a car that looks like that 2011 concept. I don't think that is a good looking car and beyond that it doesn't look very aerodynamic at all. It does remind me a bit of the Nissan idx concept except uglier.

It also just doesn't look like a Toyota. They should maek something that fits more with their brand.

The production version will be different. Keep in mind that is a 3 year old concept. They will make changes and updates.

Something has me thinking a sub-GT86 sports car could be limited to developing nations and nations that call for smaller cars.
Americans are already complaining about space in the GT86

The TES Concept T-Sports at 150 inches, which is almost the same length as the W30 MR-2 (153 inches).

I think the price range for the sub 86 car will be from $16k-$20k.
