Here's the full video of the FT-1 being shown off this morning at Cars & Coffee Irvine. Took shots of interior, exterior, driving, and combo shots near the end which was amazing!

Sorry if I am out of the loop on this, but what is cars and coffee? Is this a regular event that is held, is there something special about it, or is it basically what it sounds like? People bring their cars and there is coffee.

Cool to actually see the Supra concept moving here. I didn't even know if the concept version was able to move itself anywhere.

from what i understand, Cars & Coffee is a really really nice car meet. it happens early in the morning to keep the ricers and kids away. at least this is what i have been told. never actually attended one before.

FT1 has electric motor to move short distances with. a lot of present day concept cars are built like this.

concept cars are just body kits over an exiting platform with electric motor(s).

they are built just for show. they arent really prototypes or test mules.

So what engine can you see through the glass hood of the Supra concept? Is that engine just for show, and there is another small electric motor that is meant for moving the concept short distances?

From what has been said it looks like its just a plastic engine cover. Looks like a V6 due to the 2 intake ports you can see towards the front of the engine cover (will attach a pic below).. But its a small golf cart engine underneath to move it around.

Yes its just for show. its just a plastic cover. its not an actual engine if you will.

yup, like I said before, most concept cars these days have small golf cart size electric motor to move short distances with.

the FT-1 concept is just a body kit on a Toyota/Lexus S platform (RC350). the body panels aren't metal. i believe they are either fiber glass or carbon.
