I do think that is a good commercial for its entertainment value, but I think (as I do with most car ads) that it doesn't really do much to make you want the car. It makes me interested in watching the Paralympics instead.

It's more so a branding effort, you see a commercial like this and remember who it came from years down the road, like many super bowl commercials in the past.

True.
That's what they aim for in general, just having really memorable commercials.
There's a ton of reach with these and every second costs millions, need to make it count.

very few ads last really, really long, most have a short "shelf life"

i think it's hard to be creative with this sort of stuff and even then before it gets out to the masses, who knows what effect it will have.

seems like a tough thing to do
